MusicofLove
This is a personal app that I have worked on for 1 month. I wanted to challenge myself and dissect a popular issue that I and other users have experienced when utilizing dating apps. I analyzed the positives in similar dating applications and tackled what was lacking within them. I took on the role of UX design and later visually designed the application.

Concept
Connecting people through music.
The concept was derived from the popularity of music. According to an article from Nielson Music covered by Forbes, in 2017, Americans spend, on average, slightly over 32 hours a week listening to music. Therefore, I wanted to introduce another element for this project, and that is online dating. I created a platform where users can enjoy listening to their favorite artists or songs while simultaneously connecting with other users who have the same taste in music.

Problem
Interest is lost with dating apps.
One of the common problems I noticed in dating apps is that they are not used as much as other social media like Instagram, Snapchat, or Facebook. As a frequent user of tinder, I noticed that lots of people that I meet say the same thing: "Sorry of the late response, I don't get online as much." Also, there is a common thread amongst other users as well. This is not only common with tinder, but it is also occurring with other dating apps like Bumble and Plenty of Fish. Ive conducted a series of analysis to dissect the issue further.
A comparison chart was created to show the similarities of three other dating apps. This helped me understand what users enjoy so i can extract those essentials and incorporate them into my project with my new addition.

An emotions graph was illustrated to pinpoint particular moments where the user may question the apps credibility. This was a significant process because I can then take moments of excitement and implement it into the project. Also, it notice how the graph continues to descend, imply either one of the users have lost some interest in the app and don't log in as frequently.

Personas
My target for this application is young adults between the ages of 20-35+ due to the high activity of similar users who use other dating apps. These five personas were asked the following five questions that related to their social lives:
1: What music streaming app do you use?
2: How do you usually meet people?
3: How long do you listen to music daily?
4: Have you used any dating apps?
5: Are all the songs and artist on your current streaming app?

I holistically analyzed the information gathered from the personas and made my first attempt at creating a journey map and a potential interface for the application through wireframes and storyboarding of the first iteration of my project.

Prototype
To solve the challenges that I faced, the interface for the application was influenced by Spotify since it is a highly used streaming app, and it was the most mentioned in my persona analysis. I created an interface that where it is appealing and subtle to the eye where it is simplistic and easy to navigate. I learned that simplicity is key for the user. Therefore, localizing elements that is theorized that the user will constantly use was prioritized in the process. Also, the tinder interface inspired the dating layout of the application since it is easy to navigate and appealing to the user. The combination of both interfaces resulted in the application being named "MusicofLove."

App logo generates people around the area listening to the same genre or artist after click.

The users is able to see who is near by listening to the same artist or genre. Once matched, a conversation can start. The music element acts as an ice breaker for both users.
